Iranian video art “Sculpture” wins two awards at Chicago festival

The Iranian video art “Sculpture” received two awards at the September edition of the Crown Point International Film Festival in Chicago, the U.S.

Written, directed, and composed by Ramin Hosseinpour, the work won the best short film director for Hosseinpour and the best short film editing for Ehsan Vaseghi at the latest edition of the festival.

The video art is about the life story of Persian poet and mystic Molana Jalal ad-Din Rumi and Shams Tabrizi. During one of his journeys to Konya in 1244, he met the dervish Shams and was deeply influenced by him.

For months, the two men constantly interacted, and as a result, Rumi neglected his disciples and family, who could not tolerate the close relationship.

One night in 1247, Shams disappeared forever. This experience turned Rumi into a poet. The Divan of Shams (The Collected Poetry of Shams) is a true translation of his experiences into poetry.

Hosseinpour’s video art has won several awards at various international festivals so far. It recently won the awards for the best rock music video and best VFX: music video at the summer edition of Los Angeles Movie and Music Video Awards in the U.S.

Its previous achievements include the Best Composer Award at the 26th LA Sun Film Fest in Los Angeles, the award for Best Animated Music Video in the HALO International Film Festival in Saint-Petersburg, and the award for the best documentary script from the King Film Awards 2023 in London among many others.

Hosseinpour, 37, is a multi-talented international artist, professionally working in the international media. He is an architect, conceptual artist, writer, director, producer, and composer.

He has won awards in more than 55 international festivals in Munich, Vancouver, Paris, Moscow, New York, Boden, Las Vegas, Rome, etc.

Crown Point International Film Festival (CPIFF) is a monthly and annual IMDb qualifying competition for filmmakers all over the world. All categories are awarded monthly except Best of Fest awards (best of the year).

Iranian film ‘Sculpture’ wins two awards at Chicago festival

Iranian filmmaker Ramin Hosseinpour was awarded at the Crown Point International Film Festival (CPIFF) in Chicago, winning the award for Best Director of a Short Film for his documentary ‘Sculpture.’
Hosseinpour, who also wrote and produced the film, picked up the award at the 45th edition of the festival, which was held in September 2024. The film’s editor, Ehsan Vaseghi, also won the award for Best Editing, Mehr News Agency reported.
The CPIFF, which has been running for 45 years, will showcase the winning films on screens in Chicago for a week and present the winners with a cash prize and a trophy at its annual awards ceremony, to be held in three months.
‘Sculpture’ is a documentary short film based on the true story of the lives of Rumi and Shams. The film is currently competing to qualify for the Academy Awards in the United States and Canada, as well as the BAFTAs. It has also been ranked among the top 50 short films and documentaries on IMDb.

Ramin Hosseinpour is a multi-talented media and iranian film director who is also a graduate of architecture and design. His experimental media projects have been shown in various platforms. His works include music, film, design and artistic concepts. His projects have won many awards in independent film festivals around the world.

As a composer, arranger, singer and a musician, he started his career in 2014 with the work of Ghanimat. After the successful release of Ghanimat, he made a lot of efforts to combine the architectural space with cinema and music with the release of video art of Eshtiagh , until he reached the finals of international festivals through the making of the video art of sculpture which he officially released in 2021 and later won more than 42 international festival competitions.

Iran’s video art producer wins at Berlin International Art Film Festival

TEHRAN – Iranian artists Ramin Hosseinpour won the Best Experimental Music Video award at the 16th edition of the Berlin International Art Film Festival in Germany.

Hosseinpour received the award for his video art of ‘Sculpture’.

His video art has been previously won awards at various international festivals including 2022 Vancouver Independent Film Festival Award, 2022 Rome Music Video Award, One-Reeler Short Film Competition, International Music Video Underground, Munich Music Video Awards, Boden International Film Festival, High Tatras Film & Video Festival, Art Blocks International Film Festival, Europe Music Video Awards, Vegas Movie Awards, Accolade Competition, Europe Film Festival U.K. (EFFUK), Stockholm Gold Awards International Film Festival, Prague International Film Festival, International Izmir Short Film Festival, International Music Video Awards and Zagreb Film Festival.

Hosseinpour is the music video director, producer, composer, arranger, and electric guitar player.

Earlier, he was chosen as the Best Male Vocalist at the LA Music Video Awards 2022 for his video art of ‘Sculpture’.

Berlin Art Film Festival has been selecting, promoting and screening films through its screening platform of Euro Arthouse Cinedaily in the past three years.
